All of Team Volvo’s Olympic sailors heading to 2012 20.09.11
Now the hard work really begins for the Team Volvo supported Olympic sailors following today?s (Tuesday 20 September) announcement that all eight sailors have been selected to represent Team GB at London 2012. Experienced Olympians Ben Ainslie (Finn), Paul Goodison (Laser), Nick Dempsey (RS:X windsurfing) and Saskia Clark (470 crew) will once again fly the flag for Britain at their home Games next year, while Hannah Mills (470 helm), and the Women?s Match Racing team of Lucy Macgregor, Annie Lush and Kate Macgregor will make their Olympic debuts.
Third position for Ben at his first Extreme 40 Sailing Series regatta in Trapani 19.09.11
Making his debut as skipper of Oman Air in Trapani for Act 6 of the Extreme Sailing Series was Britain's most successful Olympic sailor, Ben Ainslie, who joins the team for the next three events. The pressure was on with everyone eager to see how the team would perform under the guidance of their new leader, who has three Olympic gold medals to his name, and the Team didn't disappoint, securing third position overall at his first Extreme Sailing Series regatta.

Ainslie seals sailing test event gold in style 15.08.11
Ben Ainslie finished the Weymouth and Portland International Regatta in style with a gold medal taking the Team Volvo for life medal tally to four. The 470 Girls [Saskia Clark and Hannah Mills] and Nick Dempsey both came away with silver medals and top British Laser sailor, Paul Goodison took bronze. It was a fantastic week of sailing for Team Volvo for life and a positive step towards 2012.
50th Optimist National Champion Crowned at Pwllheli Sailing Club 07.08.11
The 50th Volvo Gill Optimist National and Open Championship came to a close today (Friday 5th August) after a week of fantastic sailing in a mixture of racing conditions. The week started light with no wind for the 450 sailors but increased as the week progressed. Racing finished today with sunshine butchallenging conditions and 30-40 degree shifts.

Triple Olympic gold and silver medallist, Ben Ainslie CBE, joined Premiership Rugby Club Harlequins for a pre-season training session today. The sailor was at the club?s training base at Surrey Sports Park to compare fitness programs and to see how the club?s sevens squad are preparing themselves for the J.P. Morgan Asset Management Premiership Rugby 7s Series 2011 which kicks off on Friday 15 July at The Recreation Ground in Bath.
Top Youth Sailors Take on J.P. Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Challenge 29.06.11
On Saturday 25thJune some of the country?s top youth sailors teamed up with 2012 hopefuls to compete in the annual 50 mile sprint around the Isle of Wight, namely the J.P. Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race. The sailors joined over 16,000 people including popular TV personality Denise Van Outen and actor Chris Parker to take part in the historic race.

The Olympic dream is burning stronger than ever for Team Volvo for life as all the Volvo supported Olympic sailors were selected this weekend to represent Team GBR at the Pre-Olympic Test Event next month (29 July- 11 August) in Weymouth and Portland. ?It?s been hard work; I won?t hide from that fact. It was one of the toughest events I think I?ve ever done physically, harder than the Olympics.? Said Ben Ainslie on the Skandia Sail for Gold Regatta.

Strong Winds and Testing Sailing Conditions at the Volvo Gill Optimist Inland Championships 17.05.11
Tough, windy sailing conditions proved testing for over 300 young Optimist sailors this weekend at the Volvo Gill Optimist Inland Championships, Grafham Water Sailing Club. Strong winds of around 20-22 knots, gusting around up to 25 upset the racing schedule on the first day. Racing was abandoned for the Regatta fleet?s racing without any races completed. The wind was lighter for the second day with around 12 knots, gusting 14/15 allowing the fleet to complete five races.

Last weekend 9,000 people flocked to Alexandra Palace for the 60th anniversary of the Dinghy Show, the only show in the world dedicated to dinghy sailing. The Palace was filled with young sailors checking out the exhibitors, boats, new kit, workshops, talks and presentations taking place over the two days.
