The Volvo Ocean Race is the world’s longest professional sporting event and leading offshore sailing competition. The race is well established as one of the big three global sailing events in the world along with the America’s Cup and the Olympic Games. For weeks at a time, the sailors endure conditions ranging from freezing cold to searing heat, while waves constantly slam the boat. All the while, they are under relentless pressure to perform at their peak and gain fractional advantages that can, in the end, mean the difference between winning and losing.
Volvo Car UK is the official vehicle partner to the J.P. Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race; an exciting annual yacht race around the Isle of Wight which regularly attracts over 1,500 boats and 16,000 sailors, making it one of the largest yacht races in the world and one of the largest participation sporting events in the UK after the London Marathon and the Great North and South Runs.
“The Island Sailing Club’s relationship with Volvo Car UK stretches back over a decade and Volvo continues its role as a Race Partner and the vehicle provider to the world-famous annual Round the Island Race. It is significant that one of the world’s top car marques should have such a long term relationship with one of the world’s most popular yacht races and the relationship continues to bring many and varied benefits to both parties.
The Round the Island Race provides a high profile platform for Volvo to promote its involvement in British Sailing, bringing sailors to the race and also exhibiting its vehicles and loaning them to organisers and the other Race Partners. The Race weekend allows the Volvo brand to target the relevant demographic whilst the sailing names and their involvement also helps the Race media team create story leads and attract additional media interest.”

Cowes Week is the largest regatta of its type in the world, and has played a key part in the British Sporting summer calendar since 1826. We host over 1,000 competitors and entertain around 100,000 spectators throughout the week.
"Cowes Week is an event that attracts sailors from across a wide spectrum of experience and abilities and so the partnering between the event and Volvo Car UK is fitting. We’re grateful for Volvo’s continuing support of the regatta and the fleet of cars that they provide the event and event partners."
Kate Johnson, Cowes Week Sponsorship and Marketing Manager

Volvo Car UK is the official car supplier to the Virgin Kitesurfing Armada, a weekend kitesurfing festival held at CBK beach, Hayling Island.
Virgin Kitesurfing Armada promotes a sense of community and since the introduction have bought together over 2,000 kitesurfers and their families from across the UK and beyond to ride together with the primary aim of breaking the Guinness World Record for the ‘Largest Parade of Kitesurfers’ and most importantly raising funds for charity.
"Volvo has been a huge support to the Virgin Kitesurfing Armada Festival as it has grown over recent years. The ongoing partnership works really well for us as the cars Volvo provide to the event are extremely useful for the running of the festival, look fantastic branded up and are enjoyed by all those who get to use them! I ended up buying one myself after last year’s event – the XC60 is just a great car for kitesurfers, plenty of room for all the kit and yet still a fantastic ride, and I love that it keeps the family safe too."
